Make the ascent to the Castle of San Giovanni, with a start point only 5 minutes away. Or simply walk 400 meters to see St. Tryphon’s Cathedral, a marvel from the 12th century. Rest, relax at the sea, explore our history or enjoy the nightlife. We’re a 10 minute drive from Tivat Airport and a 1 hour and 30 minute drive from both Dubrovnik and Podgorica Airport.

A Rich History

Kotor is a unique combination of a mild Mediterranean climate and centuries-old influences of the history, cultures and traditions of the peoples who inhabited the region. The town walls preserve this past. That is why it was placed on UNESCO's List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Kotor Bay (Boka Kotorska), is one of the longest and deepest bays in the Adriatic Sea, and is often referred to as the southernmost fjord in Europe. The cliffs of mountains Orjen and Lovcen overshadow the town, producing one of the most beautiful scenes in the Mediterranean.

Numerous cultural-historical monuments are a testament to the rich history of the area. Some of these monuments are integrated into our complex. Cattaro Hotel consists of the Town Guard Tower, Rector’s Palace (the building of the local government when Venice ruled the Adriatic until 1806) and the Old Town Hall - Napoleon Theatre (built in 1810). All three historical buildings have been preserved in their original conditions, renovated and converted into the hotel in 2006. The interior décor of the hotel was designed to correspond to themes from the beginning of the 18th century. There are portraits of sea captains and admirals, as well as pictures of famous ships and naval battles. An increasing number of tourists are attracted to the unspoiled natural beauty of the Bay of Kotor and the unique heritage and beauty of the Old Town. There is something for everyone with delicious, organic local food, thriving nightlife, the arts, historical sites and Venetian architecture.
